From July 6th to 10th, as part of the Avignon Off Festival, George Gershwin's opera takes over the Chapel of the Incarnate Word. The show provides an opportunity to applaud young artists revealed by the Voices of Overseas.

Avignon, at its off-the-beaten-track festival, is offering this year the chance to hear the talented Martinican soprano Livia Louis-Joseph Dogué perform a hit from the operatic repertoire, George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess . Created in 1935, this opera, intended for African-American singers, established itself as a remarkable synthesis of Western tradition, the then-burgeoning jazz scene, and popular music.
